FREE SOCIAL MEDIA CONFERENCE – LONDON

Thursday 12th July 4pm-7.30pm

There are increasing challenges for educational establishment to respond to CIAG and employment preparation:

  • How are Educational establishments and informal educators responding to these developments?
  • Has your staff team the digital competencies and confidence to use the internet and social media safely to engage your learners and prepare them for future employment?
  • How can the Internet and social media be used to engage all students.

 

Synopsis of presentations:

Munch Poke Ping: Stephen Carrick-Davies

Produced a report for the UK Government's Training and Development Agency (TDA) in 2011. The focus of the research was to consider the risks which vulnerable young people, excluded from schools and being taught in Pupil Referral Units (PRUs), encounter online and through their mobile phones. He was awarded funding by Nomient and has produced 3 powerful film clips and resources for students and PRU. Website: Munch, Poke, Ping 

 

Social Media Careers Guidance Course

(Train-the-Trainer Course) A one stop social media and careers guidance course to cascade providing excellent careers & guidance advice, basic key skills and teaching students how to conduct themselves in professional environments both on-line and off-line. Engaging students in a medium they are comfortable and familiar this course will empower them to help make informed careers decisions about learning and work.

 

Demystifying SMART boards - Matthew Pearson

Steljes are the UK distributors of SMART technologies. Many schools, colleges and other training sites have invested in SMARTBoards to help them make teaching and training interactive and engaging. This presentation will highlight some of the key features of the SMART software and how it can be used to enhance presentations.
