Profile Information

Brief bio: tell us a few facts about you & your interest in digital aspects of work with young people
hi to everyone who is embracing the world of social media and social networking sites to encourage particpation and enable young people to have a voice in all aspects of their lives. I am currently undertaking a small research project which aims to explore the characteristics of the 'digital native' in contempoary Britain. I feel that the power of the internet and its implications for positive outcomes for young people can substantially effect future programme development and professional practice.

I need your help!!

Hi Neil!

Are you in the smae class as shane? hehe anyways hope your studies are going well and that you are enjoying your degree! How can i help? i did my dissertation on youth work and social networking, i looking at some youth groups who had great success, some youth groups whos pages had been barely used etc and i looked at the barriers, safety aspects etc..its a big topic and there are soo many routes you can explore! a year on from when i did my major study theres a lot more info and reports avaliable for your literature review. i would recommend looking at tim davies paper (which is avaliable on the nya website somewhere) and also have a look at ceops internet safety stufff!...you wont find many books but theres lots of studies and new paper articles online, plus children and young people often have good suppliments!..Hope this helps, anything else i can do let me know!

Using Creative Assessment Tools for Practitioners at Attlee Youth & Community Centre, London E1

April 11, 2013 from 9:30am to 4:30pm
BackgroundOne of the challenges of assessment processes with young people is how to secure their involvement and active participation. Only too often assessment can become something that is ‘done’ to young people (or a form that needs  to be filled in), rather than a dynamic process that puts them at the centre, something theyare involved with and have some ownership over. The assessment tools called ‘CAF Cards’  and ‘Road Sign Cards’ have been developed with young people to work with the…See More
