IVY4EVR - SMS drama for Young People

REGISTER NOW TO TAKE PART IN AN EXLUSIVE ONE-EPISODE TRIAL OF CHANNEL 4’S NEW SMS DRAMA AND WIN AN IPAD

Ivy has left home because Lilsis has done the dirty on her and she's no longer sure who her friends are. For a week she'll tell you **everything** but can she trust you and what will you tell her?

Ivy4Evr is an SMS drama for teenagers created by the BAFTA-nominated interactive artists’ group Blast Theory, written by Tony White author of novels including Foxy-T (Faber and Faber) and commissioned by Channel 4 Education. The SMS drama takes place entirely on the users' mobile phone and gives them the possibility to interact via SMS messages influencing the narrative as they go along.

Ivy4Evr uses SMS to go places that other dramas can’t go - onto your phone and into your pocket. Ivy becomes part of your life over seven days, getting ever more intimate with you. Ivy wriggles into your life, sending you messages on the way to school, college or last thing at night. Ivy’s life is parallel to yours: she sends boozy updates late on Saturday night and sarcastic chat on a boring Sunday afternoon. And if you send her messages she will chat with you about sex, music and everything else that really matters to a teenager growing up in Britain today.

For seven days starting on 10th OCTOBER you will receive SMS messages from Ivy, you can send messages back and give her advice on the burning issues in her life.

Ivy4Evr is entirely SMS based. To sign up to participate is free, messages you receive from Ivy are free, SMS messages that you send to Ivy are sent to a standard mobile phone number and will be charged at your normal rate.

Ivy4Evr is an educational project that deals with issues of sex and drugs as part of a frank and detailed drama.

Do not sign up to the project if this content is likely to cause offence.

To register for the pilot episode please go to www.ivy4evr.co.uk
Everyone who registers and verifies by midnight on 9th OCTOBER goes into the running to win an iPad.

You can also search for Ivy4Evr on Facebook and Twitter.

Just thinking about this idea and wondered if you knew who will be on the other end of the phone to talk to yps about sex, drugs etc. If yps reveal child protection issues over text what are the signposting, referral systems in place?

Thanks for your comment and question. Have forwarded directly to Hugo to confirm the eSafeguarding procedures and referrals. I have recently posted 'Online Youth Outreach' social software risk assessment and procedures @ http://www.katiebacon.co.uk/?p=297

Dear Katie,

The Ivy4Evr project has strict guidelines for Data Protection, Privacy
and Moderation. All members of the Ivy4Evr team who have access to
personal data are CRB checked. The project uses an automated system
where SMS messages are generated by the SMS engine. There is no person
involved in the sending of SMS to the registered participants. We do
have in place a system of moderation where 'Alert Words' are flagged.
The alert words pertain to key alert categories of sexual abuse,
physical abuse and drug abuse. During the trial period, the moderator
checks twice daily for any flagged 'Alert Words'. In the event of any
flags, the moderator consults the team leaders from Blast Theory and
Channel 4 who will determine the nature of the alert and if required
will refer the matter to the appropriate agency.
It is important for legal and reputational reasons that Channel 4 and
Blast Theory treats any information it collects from its online
audiences with due care and respect. The Data Protection Act provides
a set of principles that all UK businesses must follow to ensure that
personal information is handled in this way.

For the complete Terms and Conditions and Privacy Policy please see
https://www.ivy4evr.co.uk/ivy4evr/index.cfm/term-conditions/

Kind regards,

Hugo

Using Creative Assessment Tools for Practitioners at Attlee Youth & Community Centre, London E1

April 11, 2013 from 9:30am to 4:30pm
BackgroundOne of the challenges of assessment processes with young people is how to secure their involvement and active participation. Only too often assessment can become something that is ‘done’ to young people (or a form that needs  to be filled in), rather than a dynamic process that puts them at the centre, something theyare involved with and have some ownership over. The assessment tools called ‘CAF Cards’  and ‘Road Sign Cards’ have been developed with young people to work with the…See More
