What do you want to talk about at Connected Generation 2011

The Youth Work Online unConference is happening this Saturday, 21st May.

As an open space event the agenda is created by the participants, so - what do you want to talk about? Add your suggestions for topics below.

These could be presentations you want to give about projects you have been involved in; questions you want to ask; tools you want to explore; discussion starters you want to offer; plans you want to collaborate on...

I want to explore how we could use a tool like One Click Organisations to set up a virtual working group to take on ownership of the Youth Work Online network and to develop it further in the future.

Hi everyone!

I'd be interested in discussing safeguarding when engaging children and young people using digital media. I'd also like to talk about digital media as a tool for participation rather than a tool for broadcast.

Looking forward to meeting everyone!

Matt

I'd like to have a crack at the old chestnut - organisational change. How do we get people to see the value? How do we get away from the communications team holding all the cards and get the tools more freely available to practitioners?

I would like to discuss 'How to challenge online racism and homophobia and offer the appropriate support to young people and practical guidelines to youth organisations.'

Simon Davey is attending on Saturday, he and I have been working on some organisational change models and social media.

Katie - the how to challenge racism & homophobia sounds brilliant! I shall have to prioritise that one!

I would like to discuss the effects of technology/internet on youngsters their social life and the misperception adults have. So how social is technology? And what will it be in the future.

And, as a reply on Duncan, how to use youngsters in the development of communication tools.

I have another question - What methodologies do youth practitioners have to discuss and convey 'informed consent' online to young people?  Young people's rights regarding content they post online and this being used in child protection meetings or used as evidence in school investigations.

Happy to talk about engaging young travellers via Facebook - still early days but it is showing great potential. Also happy to do something practical on privacy settings. I would also love to hear about future technologies. Looking forward to catching up with everyone!

Using Creative Assessment Tools for Practitioners at Attlee Youth & Community Centre, London E1

April 11, 2013 from 9:30am to 4:30pm
BackgroundOne of the challenges of assessment processes with young people is how to secure their involvement and active participation. Only too often assessment can become something that is ‘done’ to young people (or a form that needs  to be filled in), rather than a dynamic process that puts them at the centre, something theyare involved with and have some ownership over. The assessment tools called ‘CAF Cards’  and ‘Road Sign Cards’ have been developed with young people to work with the…See More
